Frozen Sessions

For 4 decades, Oscar D’Leon (Caracas, 1943) holds the position of King of Salsa. He released over 50 albums and won a truck load of awards, including a Latin Grammy. The ever charismatic D’Leon thanks his nickname ‘El Sonero del Mundo’ (the improviser of the world) to his fabulous bass playing. In 1975 he scores his first classic major hit Llorarás with the band La Dimensión Latina. In his music the Venezuelan singer combines traditional salsa with influences from the Caribbean such as merenque and rumba. Though already in his seventies, D’Leon doesn’t think about retirement. With his 14 piece strong band he keeps on touring the globe delighting audiences in more than 100 countries. D’Leon worked with such legends as Celia Cruz, Tito Puente and Cheo Feliciano.
